Description
A catalog of 312 X-ray selected BL Lacertae objects (XBLs) optically identified through the end of 2011. The table contains names, coordinates, redshifts, multi-frequency flux values, and luminosities, with statistical investigation of characteristics like black hole mass and spectral indices. This table was created by the NASA HEASARC in June 2013 based on a reference paper.
Use Cases
Correlating central black hole mass with synchrotron peak frequency based on the provided log M_BH and log nu_peak values.
Analyzing the relationship between host galaxy properties (effective radius, ellipticity, absolute magnitude) and redshift.
Comparing optical flux variability across R, V, and B bands using the provided Delta(m) values.
Investigating the distribution of broadband spectral indices (alpha_ro, alpha_ox, alpha_rx) across the XBL population.
Evaluating the polynomial relationship between V - R host galaxy indices and redshift for redshift estimation.
Provides specific ranges for key astrophysical parameters, such as redshifts (0.031 to 0.702) and black hole masses (log M_BH = 7.39 - 9.30 solar masses).
Includes multi-frequency luminosity data across radio, optical (V-band), and X-ray (0.1-2.4 keV) bands.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data identification cutoff is 2011; newer discoveries are not included.
Provenance
Source
NASA High Energy Astrophysics Science Archive Research Center (HEASARC).
Collection Method
Data were collected through an extensive bibliographic and database search or calculated by the author of the reference paper.
Time Range
Optical identifications through the end of 2011.
