Description
Polling divisions divide electoral districts into smaller designated areas to organize and manage voting during an election. The boundaries were drawn within the Official Electoral Districts of the Yukon, as defined by the Electoral Districts Boundaries Act, and were aligned using Natural Resource Canada’s CanVec Topographic Data at the 1:50,000 scale and the National Road Network.
Use Cases
Perform spatial analysis of polling division boundaries for regional planning and resource allocation.
Create geographic visualizations of electoral districts and their internal polling divisions for public communication.
Align polling division geometries with other datasets using the National Road Network (NRN) for integrated mapping.
Strengths
Boundaries are legally defined by the Electoral Districts Boundaries Act (S.Y. 2024, c. 14).
Geometries are aligned with authoritative topographic data from Natural Resources Canada at 1:50,000 scale.
Dataset is maintained and distributed by the Government of Yukon's official GeoYukon platform.
Limitations
Dataset lacks tabular attributes; no column names, row counts, or demographic data are provided.
Spatial analysis is limited to boundary geometry without associated electoral or population statistics.
Data is provided in web service formats (HTML, ESRI REST), requiring GIS software for direct use.
