Description
Central Yukon bedrock mapping results from the Glenlyon and northeast Carmacks areas. The dataset likely contains geological information on metasedimentary, metavolcanic, and plutonic rocks of the Yukon-Tanana Terrane, including Carboniferous arc volcanic rocks and Early Jurassic and Cretaceous plutons. It was published by the Government of Yukon and last updated in April 2026.
Use Cases
Analyze tectonic terrane boundaries based on descriptions of the Yukon-Tanana, Cassiar, and Slide Mountain terranes
Map fault systems and displacement based on the mention of dextral offset along the Needlerock and Big Salmon faults
Study the distribution of plutonic suites based on the mention of Mississippian, Early Jurassic, and Cretaceous plutons
Correlate rock successions based on descriptions of Carboniferous arc volcanic rocks and Devonian-Mississippian metaclastic rocks
Strengths
Data is published by the Government of Yukon, an authoritative source for regional geology
The description provides specific geological context including terrane names, rock types, and fault systems
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
Provenance
Source
Government of Yukon
Collection Method
Accelerated bedrock mapping
