An incubation experiment from the Australian Ocean Data Network studied the re-establishment of vertical bacterial and foraminiferal zonation in sieved intertidal sediments over 49 days. Living foraminifera were counted using Rose Bengal stain, and redox-sensitive pore water elements were measured with a voltammetric microelectrode. Bacterial abundances were quantified via phospholipid-derived fatty acid (PLFA) analysis.
AIMS, Geoscience Australia, UWA, and the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory conducted a marine biodiversity survey in the Oceanic Shoals Commonwealth Marine Reserve in the Timor Sea in 2012. The survey was part of the Australian Government's National Environmental Research Program Marine Biodiversity Hub. Data from this survey supports ecosystem modeling and the work of the Department of Environment.
60 strip-transects from a submersible survey Cordell Bank, a deep-water bank in central California, to quantify fish-habitat relationships. The study by the Australian Ocean Data Network examines spatial distributions and assemblage composition across three spatial scales. Results indicate strong correlations between fish abundance and habitat composition, with heterogeneous habitat structure influencing taxon-specific responses.
Middle Ordovician biomarker and palynological data from the upper Goldwyer Formation in Australia, presented by the Australian Ocean Data Network. The dataset provides evidence for the earliest land plant microfossils (cryptospores) in Australia and includes molecular proxies like long-chain n-alkanes and retene. It was last updated on 2026-04-28.
NASA's BOREAS project collected detailed measurements of plant biomass and leaf area index for boreal forest species. Data covers the TF, CEV, and AUX sites in the SSA and NSA regions during the 1994 and 1995 growing seasons. This dataset supports analysis of forest structure, carbon storage, and ecosystem productivity.
Colombia's animal mobilization flows recorded in 2020. The dataset includes counts of various livestock species and breeds, categorized by age, sex, and purpose of movement. It originates from the Colombian open data portal, www.datos.gov.co, and was last updated in May 2026.
June 2018 bathymetry survey data collected by Geoscience Australia and the University of Tasmania. The dataset comprises 11 grids derived from multibeam sonar data, covering a combined area of 366 km² within the Beagle Marine Park in Bass Strait. It was created to build baseline information for benthic habitats to support environmental monitoring.
A novel D1.1 genotype of high pathogenicity avian influenza A(H5N1) rapidly replaced earlier genotypes across multiple North American flyways during the 2024 fall migratory season. The dataset documents this emergence and spread through active and passive wildlife surveillance in Canada and the U.S., with phylodynamic analysis showing a monophyletic group. Walter N. Harrington published the supporting data in 2026 under a CC-BY-4.0 license.
Eleven backscatter grids derived from multibeam sonar data collected in the Beagle Marine Park during June 2018. The data was collected by Geoscience Australia and the University of Tasmania as part of a baseline survey for the National Environmental Science Program. The grids cover a combined area of 364 square kilometers at a 1-meter spatial resolution.
Unprocessed pressure and temperature data from Temperature Depth Recorders (TDRs) attached to Northern Rockhopper penguins (Eudyptes moseleyi). Data were collected on Nightingale Island, Tristan da Cunha, in 2016 as part of the multi-institutional Darwin Plus Project Pinnamin (2016–2018). The dataset aims to investigate temporal differences in diving behaviour throughout the species' breeding cycle.
Global data from 60° North to 60° South provides terrain-corrected geolocation for the NOAA-20 VIIRS sensor. The dataset contains layers for height, latitude, and longitude at a 750-meter resolution, generated in 6-minute swaths approximately 3,060 km wide. It is based on the SRTM30 Version 2 digital elevation model and is used to provide accurate spatial location for other VIIRS data products.
Zuid-Holland province contains a network of permanent vegetation measurement squares established from 1960 onward. The data, sourced from ecological research firm Van der Goes and Groot, provides the locations of periodic measurements on a 1km by 1km grid, aggregated by measuring point. The dataset does not include the actual measurement results, which are protected internally by the province.
Four new bathymetry grids integrate bathymetry with the island's topography for the Cocos (Keeling) Island region. Geoscience Australia Data created this report describing data collection, quality control, and gridding methodologies. The data are intended to help identify seabed processes and habitats and to enable tsunami modeling.
Ecological Main Structure (EHS) 2009 data from the Dutch Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. The dataset maps robust ecological connections and designated search areas for ecological connection zones, which are essential components of the national ecological network. It includes data from the POPII program and the 'Goed op Weg 2007' report, published under a CC-PDM-1.0 license.
A 2007 dataset from the Dutch Ministry of the Interior depicting robust connections and ecological connection zones for the Ecological Main Structure (EHS). The data includes search areas for ecological connection zones (EVZ) and stream valleys designated for nature development, sourced from the 'Goed op Weg 2007' report. The dataset is provided by the Ministerie van Binnenlandse Zaken en Koninkrijksrelaties under a CC-PDM-1.0 license.
A 2016-2020 dataset from the Environmental Vision of Groningen identifies forest and nature reserves located outside the official Netherlands Nature Network. The data, provided by the Dutch Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, includes smaller and larger natural elements contributing to rural biodiversity. Municipalities are instructed to protect these areas through zoning plans, with rules outlined in the Environment Regulation.
Vegetation South Holland, reference condition 1976 - 1983, lines provides a geospatial overview of vegetation categories and landscape types based on a survey conducted by the Dutch Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. The dataset classifies grassland areas into three value classes—low, valuable, and very valuable—based on the quality of vegetation present. It also maps scattered valuable features like ditches and remnants of barren land, as well as linear features such as valuable dikes and wood quays.
