Himawari-8 satellite data provides hourly images to create daily sea surface temperature composites, overcoming cloud contamination issues from older satellites. This study maps the seasonal Bonney Coast Upwelling on a daily basis from November 2016 to March 2017 using a topographical position index method. Presented at the 2017 Australian Marine Sciences Association Conference, the data enables the first quantitative investigation of the upwelling's spatial and temporal development.
A 1500 km2 area of the Perth submarine canyon off southwest Australia is mapped using a new genetic classification system. The mapping is based on 20 m resolution bathymetry and acoustic backscatter data from 2015, plus sub-bottom data and sediment samples from 2005. The dataset was presented at the 2017 American Geophysical Union Fall Meeting and aims to better define potential benthic habitats within the Marine Protected Area.
6.6 MB of FTIR spectra data for modern and subfossil Poaceae pollen, accompanied by an R script for classification analysis. The dataset was created by Katsi and last updated on May 5, 2026. It likely contains spectral data points for pollen samples from Nar Gölü in Cappadocia, Türkiye.
1.6 million km² of Australia's exclusive economic zone consists of submarine plateaus, representing about 13.8% of the world's known inventory. This dataset presents results from two major marine surveys on the Lord Howe Rise plateau in 2003 and 2007, collecting biological samples, geological samples, underwater photographs, video, and multibeam sonar bathymetry. The collection of papers in this special volume represents a major advance in knowledge about plateau ecology.
A geospatial dataset delineating important inter-canyon habitat for the endangered Scotian Shelf population of northern bottlenose whales. The data integrates findings from year-round passive acoustic monitoring (2012-2014), vessel-based acoustic surveys, and photo-identification records (2001-2017). It identifies foraging and movement corridors between the Gully, Shortland, and Haldimand canyons.
Nova Scotia's Brier Island/Digby Neck Ecologically and Biologically Significant Area was surveyed in 2017, producing 962 biological records of 178 taxa. Fisheries and Oceans Canada conducted diver-based surveys at 20 locations to document habitat types, species assemblages, and oceanographic conditions. The data provides a modern baseline for an area where much prior information was over 40 years old.
A collection of video and stereo still imagery of benthic habitats, collected during the RV Investigator voyage IN2024_V05 from November 13 to December 12, 2024. The data was gathered by the Marine National Facility's Deep Towed Camera system and includes navigational data, focusing on the southeast marine ecosystem. The dataset is hosted by the Australian Ocean Data Network and was last updated in April 2026.
A 30-meter resolution Digital Elevation Model (DEM) integrates depth and elevation data for the Torres Strait, which lies at the northern end of the Earth's largest coral reef ecosystem. The dataset was compiled by Geoscience Australia from multiple sources, including multibeam surveys, LiDAR, and satellite data, and was last updated in April 2026. It is a fundamental dataset for marine habitat mapping and hydrodynamic modeling but is not to be used for navigational purposes.
CSIRO's RV Investigator voyage IN2024_V05 collected Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) data for the SEA-MES Voyage 3 ecosystem study. Data from three RDI Ocean Surveyor instruments (38kHz, 75kHz, 150kHz) were acquired in narrowband mode using the UHDAS system and post-processed with CODAS. This dataset supports analysis of ocean currents in the southeast Australian marine ecosystem, though data collection was intermittent to avoid interference with concurrent EK80 fisheries surveys.
Imagery and navigational data collected during the RV Investigator voyage IN2023_V01 from January 25 to March 2, 2023. The dataset includes video and stereo stills of benthic habitats from the Cape Darnley region in East Antarctica, gathered using the MNF Deep Towed camera. The data is hosted by the Australian Ocean Data Network.
Southeast Australian marine ecosystem imagery collected by the Marine National Facility's RV Investigator between May 27 and June 28, 2025. The dataset includes video and stereo stills of benthic habitats, captured using a Deep Towed camera (DTC) during the SEA-MES Voyage 4, alongside navigational data. It is hosted by the Australian Ocean Data Network and was last updated in April 2026.
A study conducted by Sara Bonilla Anariba of WorldFish to better understand fishing-related livelihoods in Kilifi, Kwale, and Mombasa communities. The research focuses on the fish loss and waste experienced by fishers, processors, traders, and fishing input suppliers, the challenges they face, and potential solutions. The dataset was last updated on June 22, 2026.
NCEI Accession 0042684 documents a 2007 survey of marine algae, invertebrate, and fish communities at ten offshore islet sites in the Main Hawaiian Islands. The protocol included reconnaissance surveys for species identification and quantitative transect surveys measuring coral/algal coverage and fish size/biomass. Data are provided as Excel spreadsheets, GIS files, and associated reports and photographs.
Release 1 of 1992 from Geoscience Australia describes the modern geological processes and Quaternary evolution of the Van Diemen Rise in the Timor Sea. The report analyzes environmental baseline data for a potential petroleum exploration release area, focusing on sea bottom sediments and geomorphic features. It interprets the effects of past sea-level changes on the carbonate shelf sediment wedge.
A dataset of assessed chemical characteristics for tomato plants. It includes significance indicators for measured traits, with aphid counts analyzed via t-test and other traits via two-way ANOVA. The data was authored by June Labbancz and last updated on figshare in May 2026.
A dataset and R code supporting three ecological analyses on landscape quality and habitat fragmentation. The materials include mark-recapture data for estimating survival and population size, patch-scale abundance data, and a meta-analysis of habitat manipulation experiments. The dataset was authored by Robert Fletcher and last updated on April 12, 2026.
53,637 polygons map the geographic extent of ancient woodland habitat in England, covering approximately 364,971.81 hectares. The dataset, created by Natural England and partners, distinguishes between Ancient Semi-Natural Woodland, Plantation on Ancient Woodland Sites, and Ancient Wood Pasture and Parkland. It serves as a primary reference for habitat location, though an ongoing revision process means updated data for some counties is available in a separate dataset.
