CLIMCAPS uses an Optimal Estimation algorithm to analyze data from the Suomi NPP satellite's CrIS/ATMS instruments, which have 1305 infrared channels and 22 microwave channels. The algorithm produces daily, one-degree gridded profiles of atmospheric temperature, water vapor, ozone, and trace gases like carbon monoxide and methane. A specific quality control methodology accepts data from the top of the atmosphere down to a level determined to be good.

Hourly carbon flux data estimates the global net ecosystem exchange (NEE) between the atmosphere and terrestrial biosphere from 1998 to 2006. The dataset contains 9 years of modeled hourly flux values for 14,637 land points on a 1-degree Cartesian grid, produced using the Simple Biosphere Model, Version 3 (SiB3). Data is provided by NASA in NetCDF and GeoTIFF formats, processed and distributed by the ORNL DAAC.
A recent deep crustal seismic survey across the Lord Howe Rise provides new data to explore the drivers behind rifting and plate tectonics. This dataset focuses on the Cretaceous rift basins of the Lord Howe Rise, a submerged continental ribbon formed during the fragmentation of eastern Gondwana. It aims to distinguish between self-organizing and mantle-driven models of plate motion using the ribbon's extensional history and igneous rock composition.
