Southern Appalachian Acid Deposition Sensitivity Rankings

A three-tier ranking system assigns high, medium, and low sensitivity to acid deposition across the Southern Appalachian Assessment area. Sensitivities are determined based on bedrock compositions and associated soil capacities to neutralize acid precipitation. The project was conducted by Federal agencies within the Southern Appalachian Man and Biosphere Cooperative.
