Description
A set of regional geological maps for the Southern North Sea area includes depth structure, isochores, subcrop and supercrop, structural elements, depositional facies, reservoir distribution, source rock, well penetration and hydrocarbon occurrence. The dataset from the North Sea Transition Authority includes PDF documents with stratigraphic and petroleum systems charts and digital copies of sand flags (.las) and depth and thickness grids (.xyz). It was last updated on 2026-07-08.
Use Cases
Model subsurface depth structure based on depth structure maps.
Analyze petroleum systems based on source rock and hydrocarbon occurrence maps.
Map reservoir distribution based on reservoir distribution and depositional facies maps.
Correlate well data based on well penetration information and digital sand flags (.las).
Strengths
Includes multiple integrated map types such as depth structure, isochores, and structural elements.
Contains supplementary PDF documents with stratigraphic and petroleum systems charts.
Provides digital data files in .las and .xyz formats for depth, thickness, and sand flags.
Limitations
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
