Deep Sea Drilling Project Leg 21 recovered Cenozoic and latest Cretaceous sediments at Site 208 on the Lord Howe Rise. The dataset provides new biostratigraphic, magnetostratigraphic, and geochemical data from cores at depths of 540-590 meters below seafloor to constrain stratigraphy around the Cretaceous/Paleogene boundary. The study, published in GSA Bulletin in 2021, suggests the sedimentary record captures a time interval close to the K/Pg bolide impact.
