365 pesticide residues were simultaneously analyzed in grain, beans, fruit, and vegetables using a multi-component quantitative GC-MS/MS method. The method was validated on spiked samples of brown rice, soy beans, mandarin orange, potato, and green pepper, with over 95% of compounds meeting recovery and precision criteria. Twenty-two pesticides were detected in 76 food samples, all below maximum residue limits, and the method is applicable for safety control of domestic and imported agricultural products.
Nine indirect methodologies were tested on 103 soil samples from the Pântano River Hydrographic Basin in Brazil. A mechanical system for collecting suspended-sediment samples at various tidal stages provided the first quantitative data on sediment transport in a modern coral reef environment.
